Business and Human Rights.  How does the UK measure up?

On 9th June, Jennifer Zerk (representing the CORE Coalition), Peter Frankental of Amnesty UK, Richard Meeran of Leigh Day & Co and Emily Armistead of Actionaid gave evidence to the UK Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights inquiry into business and human rights.  Topics covered included:-

• gaps in current UK government policy and strategy;
• problems faced by litigants against companies in human rights-related cases;
• the extent to which the UK could regulate to help prevent human rights abuses abroad; and
• the CORE Coalition's proposal for a new UK Commission on Business, Human Rights and the Environment.
